- Warm-up: joint mobility with 2 minutes of continuous running.🏃🏃
- Main part: 6 students teams were formed at the beginning of the trimester. They compete each other in a league during the trimester. Only 2 teams compete in each session. The other teams use the session in order to train. There is a student who performs the role of trainer in each team.
Hi guys, good idea and interesting content.
ResponderEliminarI am a Spanish college working in the UK as PE Teacher and use a Sport Education model in my basketball sessions. In terms of engagement for the group I think it would be more beneficial to increase the number of matches played in one session so the student will have a purpose in the session other than “getting ready”.
I personally like this model and use it with different sport, from rugby to cricket and the level of engagement is higher when children are directly involved. I have just finished a unit of work with my year 11 (4ESO for you in Spain) and played shorter games within the session but required the student to be active officiating, keeping the score, timing and coaching. I can understand how challenging the situation can be with a large group but I think it works if you plan your “season” in advance. I used teams of 4 and 7 minutes per game, focusing on personal and social responsibilities to begin with and then introduced different elements that improved the quality of the game slowly.
I don’t know whether you find this interesting but would like to hear from you.
Good luck
Hello!
EliminarFirst of all, we appreciate your comments! ;)
On the one hand, I also think that it's a good idea, in this case, increasing the number of matches in the same session in order to improve the motor impairment of our students.
It is also true that we should consider what kind of students we are working with.
On the other hand, we have seen in this high school a "new model" of session. I say "new" because when I was in the high school, basketball sessions consist only of playing matches and, in my point of view, this could become a little boring. I think this model shows an increase in students autonomy.
Thank you! :)
